The US Environmental Protection Agency publishes information in graphical form (see below) purporting to show a steady increase in records relating to heat waves as having occurred from 1960 to present. But the untold story is what happened during earlier portions of the 20th Century that preceded that date. EPA's graphs mislead the reader into believing that a calamitous rise in temperature may be about to unfold. It is untrue. Of the 50 all-time high temperature records for the individual … [Read more...]

Europe’s Heat Wave That Wasn’t
London & Europe Hit Record-TempsThis past week, London achieved a record temperature of 102 degrees Fahrenheit. Not to diminish the record temperature, but some perspective is clearly needed on this UK heat wave as the climate crowd continues to catastrophize. The Heat Wave of 1911In 1911, trees shed their leaves, grass turned to dust, and cows' milk dried up. As the New England Historical Society recounts it, The 1911 Heat Wave Was So Deadly It Drove People Insane. Temps hit scorching … [Read more...]
Ask Us Anything!
“I would like you to comment on whether you view the ‘data’ being presented by Bjørn Lomborg as accurate.”—Gene A. Thank you for the question, Gene. I have read several of Lomborg’s books, from the famous The Skeptical Environmentalist (2001), in which he first presented the hard empirical data that drove him to change his views from a fairly alarmist environmentalist position to what I would call the realist view made famous by one of my mentors, the late Dr. Julian Simon, in his books The … [Read more...]
Are This Summer’s Heat Waves Extraordinary?
Are they driven primarily by global climate change? Want to know whether this summer’s heat waves in the United States are extraordinary—nay, even unprecedented—due to manmade global warming? Where should you go for solid, objective data? Obviously, to the authoritative source, the Environmental Protection Agency. So you go to its page titled “Climate Change Indicators: Heat Waves.” Immediately when the page opens up, this is what you see: There you have it: decade by decade, … [Read more...]
A Tribute to Patrick Michaels
(Listen to this article on the Cornwall Alliance’s Created to Reign podcast.) My first contact with Dr. Patrick Michaels was around 2006 or 2007, in the early, formative days of the Cornwall Alliance for the Stewardship of Creation. I had, over the previous two or three years, read at least five or six of the books he had by then written or edited on climate change, and I highly respected him as a careful, humble, yet confident scientist, fearlessly standing against “consensus” … [Read more...]
Persistent Lies About Green Power
When drug companies try to sell you a particular cure for what ails you, the television ads typically consist of 10 seconds of saying how good the drug is and 20 seconds of disclaimers and warnings about possible negative side effects. If only renewable energy companies were that honest! To my great annoyance and disgust, a power company in Texas promises the state’s electricity users can choose a plan that delivers electricity 24 hours a day powered by the sun. Solar power. As anyone … [Read more...]
Have You Considered How Energy Price Hikes Affect Third-World Countries?
Gas prices are on the rise, not just in the U.S. but across the world. Yes, the Ukraine war has played a role in influencing global gas prices, but there are more worrying reasons behind this increase in energy prices. The impact of the price hike is particularly pronounced in countries that house some of the poorest in the world. The more unaffordable gas prices become, the harder it is for families to even meet their basic needs. God has called His people not just to be spectators but to … [Read more...]
Pregnant People are Birthing Distrust of Science
There’s a real concern that the public is losing trust in the scientific establishment, and maybe for good reason. A recent news article in one of the world’s most prestigious science journals, Nature, contained an editor’s statement that sadly apologized for being insensitive to a new unscientific norm. The article was titled, “COVID vaccines safely protect pregnant people: The data are in.” The journal editor thought it was necessary to assure readers that, “Nature recognizes that … [Read more...]
Cancel Mom’s Grocery Bag Misinformation
I don’t deliberately avoid organic foods or markets, but I don’t seek them out either. Claims that organic food tastes better or is more nutritious are not supported by evidence and certainly don’t justify the far higher prices. Mostly, I’m put off by assertions that organic food is pesticide-free, safer, and more planet-friendly. Those assertions are simply false advertising; deliberate misinformation. Mom’s Organic Market shopping bags provide an excellent example. They’re emblazoned with … [Read more...]
America’s Natural Gas Juggernaut
America can fuel the world’s needs for clean-burning natural gas for many decades and have plenty left over for our own domestic requirements. The vast majority of our nation’s undeveloped gas supply is found in the Appalachian Basin of the eastern United States. The size of the resource is stunning and largely unknown outside of the teams of geologists and engineers that are responsible for its discovery and ongoing development. Gas fields with more than 3 trillion cubic feet (TCF) of … [Read more...]
