Fossil Fuels Should Evoke Pride, Not Pandering, From Supporters

by Gregory Wrightstone

EQT Corp. CEO Toby Rice powerfully argues for adding pipeline capacity to relieve New England of exorbitantly priced liquified natural gas (LNG) — then panders to climate alarmists. It’s disappointing.“The problem is very straightforward,” writes the head of the country’s largest producer of natural gas in a letter to U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm. “The pipelines heading to New England are full, and as a result, we cannot physically flow that gas needed to meet growing … [Read more...]

EPA’s Victims Looking to Prayer and Judicial Relief

by Gregory Wrightstone

Providing sustenance to the Biden administration’s “green” push to replace the use of the U.S.’s abundant reserves of fossil fuels with unreliable and expensive wind and solar are regulators armed with a specious notion that carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases are pollutants. The government’s attack on hydrocarbons goes back to the Clinton administration’s Environmental Protection Agency, which produced a legal opinion that it could regulate greenhouse gases even though Congress never … [Read more...]

Global Agency Sows Fear With Misinformation

by Gregory Wrightstone and Kip Hansen

A recent report by the World Meteorological Organization claims that there has been a dramatic increase in the number of natural disasters over the last 50 years. According to the WMO Atlas of Mortality and Economic Losses from Weather, Climate and Water Extremes (1970 – 2019), there were more than 11,000 reported disasters attributed to these hazards globally, with just over 2 million deaths and U.S. $ 3.64 trillion in losses. The report claims that the number of disasters “has … [Read more...]

Mega drought or mega propaganda?

by Gregory Wrightstone

For some seeking attention — or possibly grant money — bad news can never be bad enough without adding a bit of global-warming hysteria. The southwestern United States is undergoing one of its worst droughts in 1,200 years and it is being made worse by man-made climate change. So says a new study released in the journal Science.  According to authors from the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory and other esteemed institutions, including Columbia University, the 19-year period (2000 to 2018) is … [Read more...]

Mutating virus panic into climate crisis scares

by Gregory Wrightstone

In the first several weeks of the COVID-19 pandemic, the media alternated between providing information on the scope and possible dreadful consequences of the contagion and vilifying President Trump over his supposed failures in managing the pandemic. Conspicuously absent from the coverage was any attempt to link the pandemic to man-made climate change. This was odd because nearly every tragedy over the last twenty or thirty years has somehow been connected by the media to global warming and … [Read more...]

Principled Inaction in the Face of Climate Change Extremism

by Gregory Wrightstone

For the next two weeks, delegates from nearly 200 countries and 29,000 visitors will be convening in Madrid for a summit on climate change. The 2019 United Nations Climate Change Conference, “COP25,” began with a cryptic address by U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres: “By the end of the coming decade we will be on one of two paths, one of which is sleepwalking past the point of no return … Do we want to be remembered as the generation that buried its head in the sand and fiddled as the planet … [Read more...]

El Paso Shooter’s Extreme Environmentalism Deserves Condemnation

by Gregory Wrightstone

The manifesto that the El Paso shooter posted before his deadly rampage reveals that, along with hate for immigrants, he held a radicalized view of mankind’s relationship to nature. The manifesto itself was titled “The Inconvenient Truth About Me,” an apparent homage to the many false narratives presented in Al Gore’s climate “documentary.”  The first two sentences pretty much sum up the four-page screed: “In general, I support the Christchurch shooter and his manifesto. This attack is a … [Read more...]

Pope’s climate policies would hurt the ones he loves

by Gregory Wrightstone

The Mills Brothers — and dozens of others — sang “You Always Hurt the One You Love.” Somebody tell the pope it doesn’t have to be that way with sensible energy policy. On June 14th, Pope Francis met with the executives of multi-national energy companies to promote schemes to mitigate what he says are the catastrophic effects of man-made global warming.Speaking to CEOs of Occidental Petroleum, ExxonMobil, Royal Dutch Shell, British Petroleum and ConocoPhillips at the Vatican, the pope … [Read more...]

New UN Report on Looming Mass Extinctions Exposed in US House Testimony

by Gregory Wrightstone

A new UN report warns that “around 1 million species already face extinction, many within decades.” That allegation was contained within the 1,800-page Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) “Summary for Policy Makers,” released on May 6. If “decades” means 30 to 40 years, then the IPBES estimates an extinction rate of about 25,000 to 30,000 species annually. Not only are there a lot of species in peril, they asserted that “the threat of … [Read more...]

Pennsylvania Climate Action Plan – Crippling costs for no benefit

by Gregory Wrightstone

On April 29, 2019, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf released the latest version of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection’s (DEP) Climate Action Plan, announcing that Pennsylvania would join the U.S. Climate Alliance, a coalition of 24 states committed to implementing policies that support the Paris Agreement — an international collaboration from which the U.S. has withdrawn.According to the governor, “states like Pennsylvania must take action to reduce greenhouse gas … [Read more...]
