The following is a guest article by Jane Shaw Stroup.Chances are, you haven’t heard of RFS, RINs, eRINs, RVOs, or maybe even RNG. I hadn’t.But if you are part of the agricultural and waste-industry interests that promote “biofuels,” you know all about them. They are the means by which fuel generated by corn, wood, waste from a landfill, or other “natural” biomass gets into your gasoline in the form of ethanol (at one time called gasohol)—or into other fuel like jet fuel.As economists know, the … [Read more...]
UN’s Climate Panic is More Politics Than Science
The following is a guest article from Judith Curry. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has issued a new Synthesis Report, with fanfare from the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres: “The climate time-bomb is ticking but the latest IPCC report shows that we have the knowledge & resources to tackle the climate crisis. Germany’s Heating Debacle Takes on Even Greater Dimensions
The following is a guest article by Pierre Gosselin. In Germany, the Federal Ministry of Economics, headed by Robert Habeck (Green party), has “grossly miscalculated” the cost of removing oil and gas heating systems from homes and buildings and installing heat pumps in their place by 2045.Instead of a 132 billion euro bill for citizens by 2045, the real price tag will be a whopping 621 billion euros! The total real price tag for all buildings will be 776 billion euros.“According to calculations by … [Read more...]
Proposed EPA Power Plant Rule Could Intensify Reliability Challenges
The Electric Power Supply Association (EPSA) condemned the federal Environmental Protection Agency’s proposed new rule that would make it almost impossible for coal-fired power plants to continue in operation, stating that implementing the rule would simultaneously drive up costs and drive down reliability of America’s electric grid. Following is the EPSA’s press release from May 11:Statement From the Electric Power Supply Association on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Proposed Rule … [Read more...]

The Wind and Solar Power Myth has Finally Been Exposed
The following is a guest article by Bryan Leyland. Many governments in the Western world have committed to “net zero” emissions of carbon in the near future. The US and UK both say they will deliver by 2050. It's widely believed that wind and solar power can achieve this. This belief has led the US and British governments, among others, to promote and heavily subsidize wind and solar. These plans have a single, fatal flaw: they are reliant on the pipe dream that there is some affordable … [Read more...]

Even With Its Problems, Science Education Lives On In America
This is a guest article by Dr. Sharon Camp.Never have I been so inspired upon being removed from a venue. Actually, as a retired teacher of AP (advanced placement) environmental sciences and chemistry, I haven’t been escorted from very many places. Perhaps none. I should explain.I am a member of the CO2 Coalition in Arlington, Virginia, where I wear my scientist hat – a B.S. in geology and Ph.D. in analytical chemistry – and serve on the organization’s education committee. In supporting our … [Read more...]
These New Science Standards Will Indoctrinate Your Kids
The CO2 Coalition has reviewed the National Science Teaching Association’s Position Statement on Climate Change and has found that it has serious problems, which we address in this assessment. Our objections to this document are many but can be separated into two major categories. Our detailed rebuttal, Challenging NSTA Position Statement on Climate Change, was published on March 23, 2023.• Reliance on “consensus” science and a rejection of critical thinking skills and the scientific method.• … [Read more...]
