Global Warming, Inc.

by Cornwall Alliance

Originally Published in The Wall Street Journal, Review & Outlook, November 20, 2007 Editors Note by Cornwall Founder Dr. E. Calvin Beisner. Click here to read the article at WSJ.com . Al Gore no longer needs to make claims about creating the Internet, because the former Vice President deserves much of the credit for creating an entire new industry -- the global warming business. And like the energy barons of an earlier age, Mr. Gore has the chance to achieve enormous wealth after being … [Read more...]

My Nobel Moment

by John Christy P.HD

Excerpted from an article originally published in the Wall Street Journal. Read the full article here. I'm sure the majority (but not all) of my IPCC colleagues cringe when I say this, but I see neither the developing catastrophe nor the smoking gun proving that human activity is to blame for most of the warming we see. Rather, I see a reliance on climate models (useful but never "proof") and the coincidence that changes in carbon dioxide and global temperatures have loose similarity over … [Read more...]

The IPCC’s Cardinal Error in CO2 Warming Calculation

by E. Calvin Beisner

Read the full report here (PDF). Lord Christopher Monckton, Viscount Brenchley, former advisor to the Thatcher and Major governments in the UK and a well-known critic of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, has written a paper especially for the Cornwall Alliance revealing a major mathematical error in the work of the IPCC. Because of the error, the IPCC exaggerates the warming effect of increased atmospheric carbon dioxide by 2 to 7 times. The IPCC's cardinal error is in its … [Read more...]

Thirty-Five Inconvenient Truths

by Christopher Monckton of Brenchley

A spokesman for Al Gore has issued a questionable response to the news that in October 2007 the High Court in London had identified nine “errors” in his movie An Inconvenient Truth. The judge had stated that, if the UK Government had not agreed to send to every secondary school in England a corrected guidance note making clear the mainstream scientific position on these nine “errors”, he would have made a finding that the Government’s distribution of the film and the first draft of the guidance … [Read more...]

Global Warming: Why Evangelicals Should Not Be Alarmed

by E. Calvin Beisner

An annotated, PDF version of this article is available for Download. In a documentary aired August 23, 2007, by CNN and titled “God’s Warriors,” Richard Cizik, vice president for governmental affairs of the National Association of Evangelicals, said about evangelicals who disagree with his urgent appeals for action to fight global warming: Historically, evangelicals have reasoned like this: Scientists believe in evolution. Scientists are telling us climate change is real. Therefore, I won’t … [Read more...]

Scientific Orthodoxies, Politicized Science, and Catastrophic Global Warming: Challenges to Evangelicals Navigating Rough Waters in Science and Policy

by E. Calvin Beisner

Click here to download the full paper. The year 2006 has seen a major division among evangelicals over a strange, multifaceted issue: whether human action is causing potentially catastrophic global warming and what, if anything, should be done about it. That division quite possibly had enormous political consequences in the mid-term elections just completed, contributing to both diminished voter turnout among evangelicals and a decline in their support for Republican candidates from 75 percent … [Read more...]

Fact Sheet: Evangelicals Should be Wary of the Politicization and Bad Science of Global Warming Alarmism

by Cornwall Alliance

Download the Fact Sheet In recent months, the news has carried a spate of stories about Christians embracing the cause of global warming. These news stories highlight some evangelical leaders who have endorsed alarmist claims in their public statements, urged political action on climate change, and even screened Al Gore’s movie, An Inconvenient Truth, in their churches. It’s no surprise that some politicians are welcoming converts to the cause on the eve of national elections, or that the … [Read more...]

Climate Change in a Nutshell: scientific, moral and theological implications of climate policy

by Cornwall Alliance

Few issues in recent years have fueled public debate as has global warming. Since first registering a blip on the public radar screen in 1988, when NASA scientist James Hanson argued that its existence was undeniable, the controversial subject has generated countless professional papers, articles, television broadcasts and international conferences. Indeed, the Kyoto Protocol – designed to address global warming by reducing fossil fuel use and thus greenhouse gas emissions – has become a … [Read more...]

Appeal Letter to the National Association of Evangelicals on the Issue of Global Warming

by Cornwall Alliance

Leading evangelicals ask NAE to refrain from taking a position on climate change issue We have appreciated the bold stance that the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) has taken on controversial issues like embracing a culture of life, protecting traditional marriage and family, promoting abstinence as AIDS prevention, and many others. We respectfully request, however, that the NAE not adopt any official position on the issue of global climate change. Global warming is not a consensus … [Read more...]
