By now practically everybody’s heard how Ricky Gervais roasted celebrities at the 2020 Golden Globe awards. To say he called them out as hypocrites would be putting it mildly.Among his illustrious critical remarks were some about climate-change hypocrisy that celebrities display every year. What’s so special about that? Well, right-wing media and climate realists often point out the vast gap between what celebrities preach and what they do. But no one hosting an Oscar or Golden Globes … [Read more...]
Climate Models vs Observations: 2019 Update
Back around 2014 many people, me included, were commenting on the discrepancy between climate models and observations. In a report for the Fraser Institute I showed the following graph:The HadCRUT4 series (black) was then dipping below the 95% lower bound of the model distribution. The IPCC itself in the 5th Assessment Report (2013) noted that out of 114 model runs, 111 had overstated observed warming since the late 1990s. That same year, Hans von Storch told Der Spiegel thatIf things continue … [Read more...]
What about geoengineering?
Recently someone wrote asking, " How does geoengineering factor in with your Climate Change beliefs?"The Cornwall Alliance as a body hasn’t addressed this question, so what I say here is solely my own thinking. The answer depends heavily on what one means by geoengineering. Humankind has been engineering the earth in many ways, small and large, for thousands of years: building dams, felling forests, planting crops, digging canals and aqueducts, draining swamps, irrigating deserts, building roads … [Read more...]
The Giga and Terra Scam of Offshore Wind Energy
Can anti-fossil fuel policies based on climate crisis alarmism possibly get any more insane than this? In what might be described as a pre-Halloween trick of ginormous proportions, the International Energy Agency (IEA) now asserts that “renewable, sustainable” energy output will explode over the next two decades. Certainly for onshore wind and solar energy – but especially for offshore wind, says the IEA. “Offshore wind currently provides just 0.3% of global power generation,” IEA executive … [Read more...]

Some Cold, Hard Facts About a Hot Issue: Interview from “Christian Renewal” Magazine
The interview below was first published in the September 21, 2019, issue of Christian Renewal magazine (www.crmag.com) and is reproduced by permissionWe’ve interviewed and featured the work of Dr. Calvin Beisner before. Some might consider that a strong bias to one side of the “climate change” debate. They would be right. Why Worshipping Creation Doesn’t Actually Help Us Take Care of It
In recent years, many countries have enacted laws aimed at the reduction of pollution and improvement in environmental quality. However, national policies, legal restrictions and international treaties seldom have meaningful impact without the active participation of the governed. And their participation, in turn, is largely dependent on their worldview: their fundamental beliefs about what is right and true, and the way things ought to be.Unfortunately, not all worldviews place the same value … [Read more...]
Recommended Sources on Global Warming/Climate Change
People often ask us for recommendations of things to read or view to help them grasp the arguments over global warming. For instance, “What would be the best book/article which critiques the global warming hysteria?” Or “What’s a good short, simple thing to read about climate change?” Or “What should I give to my scientist friend that will show that serious climate scientists question the idea of catastrophic, anthropogenic global warming?”Many resources come to mind. Below are some … [Read more...]
The trouble with the political push for climate change activism
The lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer, as the old song goes, have shoved their way into the fall. And with them, the political push for climate change activism chucked kids out of the classroom and into the streets this past Friday (not that they needed a reason to cut class, especially in nice weather). Not to be outdone by the shouting students, this past Monday, adults from around the globe with their own dreams of climate utopia (and excuse to cut work and party in a fab city), descended … [Read more...]
“Fact checkers” who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones
Suppose I told you that Santa Claus lived in Santa Barbara. Now suppose you reported in an article that I told you Santa Claus lived in Santa Barbara. Now suppose some "fact checker" slammed you for falsely saying Santa Claus lived in Santa Barbara.Would the "fact checker" be right?Obviously not. Because you accurately reported what I told you. Now, if instead you had simply said, "Santa Claus lives in Santa Barbara," you'd have been factually wrong (since, as everyone knows, he lives at the … [Read more...]
