When Hurricane Dorian ground to a halt over the Bahamas, it was immediately clear that the result would be widespread devastation. While, thank God, the death toll has remained comparatively low so far, the cost in terms of destroyed homes, businesses, and infrastructure is breathtaking.
At times like this, Christians ask, “How can I help?” Few of us have the skills, the understanding, or even the opportunity to go on-site and lend direct help. Those who lack those but go on-site anyway often, despite their best intentions, are more a burden than a help.
But God has wonderfully equipped many to move in after disasters like this and give true help, and we can help through them by supporting them financially.
In “In Dorian’s Wake” in World magazine, Laura Singleton reports on Dorian’s harm to the Bahamas and the start of relief efforts, especially by Christian ministries. She also provides this helpful list, with links, of relief agencies on the scene:

Cornwall Alliance encourages all our friends to give to one or more of those agencies to help the people in the Bahamas. And don’t forget to pray, not only for material help but also for spiritual revival and renewal there as many people understandably come face-to-face with their mortality.
