The Theologization of Global Warming Among American Evangelicals: Who Says Religion and Science Can’t Mix?

by E. Calvin Beisner

[Note: This essay was written in the summer of 2010 at the request of Dr. Patrick Michaels, intended for a book he was editing. His publisher declined to include it in the book because of its religious content. It was never published elsewhere until now. We hope it remains a helpful survey of the history of the debate over global warming among evangelicals up to that time.—ECB, March 11, 2016] Introduction In the last half decade there has been a blossoming of public concern about global … [Read more...]

The Dangerous Linkage of Government and Science—Ike Was Right

by E. Calvin Beisner

President Dwight D. Eisenhower was a great man, a true lover of liberty, and very suspicious of the power of government at the same time that he recognized its necessity. Millions of Americans would benefit enormously from reading his Farewell Address. Most have heard of the "military-industrial complex" but don't know that it was Eisenhower who warned of it. Very few know that in the same speech he warned of the twin dangers of government dominance in scientific research and of a … [Read more...]

“Global warming really has become a new religion”–Nobel Physicist Ivar Giaever

by E. Calvin Beisner

Ivar Giaever explains in this video lecture why he rejects global warming alarming. "It's ridiculous," he says, to think we can measure global average temperature (GAT) accurately, and that we should consider an increase in GAT from ~1880 to 2015 from ~288 degrees Kelvin to ~288.8 degrees Kelvin (an increase of only 0.3%) frightening. There's much more in this brilliant lecture. But who cares what he thinks? He's just a Nobel Prize-winning physicist. And after all, he's not a member of the … [Read more...]

Life is a Gas

by Kevin Benn

Life is a gas – CO2 (And oxygen of course) But to say that it drives the climate Puts the cart before the horse. What Al Gore said in his lecture Unbacked by observable proof Turned out to be pure conjecture – An inconvenient truth... The ice-core samples from Vostok Plotting temperature change over time Revealed that in fact CO2 change Lags hundreds of years behind. Greenland was green when the Vikings Settled a millennium ago; While Frost Fairs were held on the Thames Six centuries later, … [Read more...]

Is Superstorm Sandy a Harbinger of the ‘New Normal’ Because of Global Warming?

by E. Calvin Beisner

[An abridged version of this article appeared in World magazine’s online edition Tuesday, November 6, 2012.] Long before Superstorm Sandy subsided, a new storm arose—an opportunistic attempt to score political points out of a great tragedy, as some people rushed to blame the powerful storm on climate change. Al Gore said, “We must heed this warning and act quickly to solve the climate crisis.” Former Obama administration green jobs czar Van Jones tweeted that Sandy proved Gore “was … [Read more...]

Researchers Reverse Stance on Link Between Global Warming and Hurricane Intensity

by Michael Asher

Author of the theory that global warming breeds stronger hurricanes recants his view Noted Hurricane Expert Kerry Emanuel has publicly reversed his stance on the impact of Global Warming on Hurricanes. Saying "The models are telling us something quite different from what nature seems to be telling us," Emanuel has released new research indicating that even in a rapidly warming world, hurricane frequency and intensity will not be substantially affected. "The results surprised me," says Emanuel, … [Read more...]

My Nobel Moment and Global Climate Change

by John Christy P.HD

I'm sure the majority (but not all) of my IPCC colleagues cringe when I say this, but I see neither the developing catastrophe nor the smoking gun proving that human activity is to blame for most of the warming we see. Rather, I see a reliance on climate models (useful but never "proof") and the coincidence that changes in carbon dioxide and global temperatures have loose similarity over time. There are some of us who remain so humbled by the task of measuring and understanding the … [Read more...]

The Sun Also Sets

by Investors Business Daily

Back in 1991, before Al Gore first shouted that the Earth was in the balance, the Danish Meteorological Institute released a study using data that went back centuries that showed that global temperatures closely tracked solar cycles. To many, those data were convincing. Now, Canadian scientists are seeking additional funding for more and better "eyes" with which to observe our sun, which has a bigger impact on Earth's climate than all the tailpipes and smokestacks on our planet combined. And … [Read more...]

Why ‘Global Warming’ Is Not a Global Crisis

by Christopher Monckton of Brenchley

I earned my Nobel Peace Prize by making the UN fix a deliberate error in its latest climate assessment. After the scientists had finalized the draft, UN bureaucrats inserted a new table, but with four decimal points right-shifted. The bureaucrats had multiplied tenfold the true contribution of the Greenland and West Antarctic ice sheets to sea-level rise. Were they trying to support Al Gore’s fantasy that these two ice-sheets would imminently cause sea level to rise 20ft, displacing tens of … [Read more...]

Dishonest Political Tampering with the Science on Global Warming

by Christopher Monckton of Brenchley

Originally Published at Heartland.org As a contributor to the IPCC’s 2007 report, I share the Nobel Peace Prize with Al Gore. Yet I and many of my peers in the British House of Lords - through our hereditary element the most independent-minded of lawmakers - profoundly disagree on fundamental scientific grounds with both the IPCC and my co-laureate’s alarmist movie An Inconvenient Truth, which won this year’s Oscar for Best Sci-Fi Comedy Horror. Two detailed investigations by Committees of the … [Read more...]
