Costs of Climate Alarmism Are Ones We Can’t Afford

by Larry Bell

As previously discussed in my March 20 column, following three decades of cooling from the mid-1940s to late '70s that prominent scientists and media sources warned was a terrifying harbinger of the next Ice Age, a mere decade of warming temperatures later became trumpeted by some of those same experts as a reverse threat, one dramatized by then-Sen. Al Gore during his theatrically staged 1988 U.S. Senate hearings on the matter. For example, a 1978 New York Times headline had urgently warned that … [Read more...]

Exposing the Media’s Climate Change Lies and Exaggerations

by Tom Snyder, Ph.D.

For 20 years or more, dire warnings about global warming and “climate change” have taken the mass media of entertainment by storm. Every few years, climate change doomsayers have claimed that the world only has 12 years to turn the tide. They said practically the same thing 12 and 15 years ago; however, that they’re saying this year! Many news stories, many news programs and many movies, including many documentaries, have sounded the alarm about global warming and climate change, such as Al … [Read more...]

The Pop Culture Transition from Population Growth to Global Warming

by Vijay Jayaraj

For many of us Millennials, especially in densely populated developing countries like India and China, it was a no-brainer. Population growth was the world’s biggest problem. At least, so we learned in our schools. But as we grew into our 20s, the focus of the world turned more toward climate change. Was population growth really a problem? Is it still? Why are we now so obsessed with climate change instead? There are always two kinds of environmentalists: those who genuinely care for nature, and … [Read more...]

The Theologization of Global Warming Among American Evangelicals: Who Says Religion and Science Can’t Mix?

by E. Calvin Beisner

[Note: This essay was written in the summer of 2010 at the request of Dr. Patrick Michaels, intended for a book he was editing. His publisher declined to include it in the book because of its religious content. It was never published elsewhere until now. We hope it remains a helpful survey of the history of the debate over global warming among evangelicals up to that time.—ECB, March 11, 2016] Introduction In the last half decade there has been a blossoming of public concern about global … [Read more...]

Big Green at it Again: Deciding Scientific Outcomes Before Doing Research

by Megan (Toombs) Kinard

As if Climategate wasn’t enough, the pseudo-scientific community has now given us BeeGate. Environmentalists blame neonicotinoid pesticides for bee colony collapse, an assumption already disproven by scientific research and field studies. This is not to say that more studies could not or should not be done, but in the case of BeeGate there is an ideology at work that decided the outcome. According to a memo released Tuesday, four European scientists decided they wanted to stop the use of … [Read more...]

Three Great Legacies of Climategate

by E. Calvin Beisner

It’s been five years now since Climategate broke, and three years since Climategate II broke. The disclosures of thousands of emails, computer programs, and other documents from the Climate Research Unit of the University of East Anglia revealed scandalous scientific misconduct of monumental proportions—enough that it has crippled the credibility of an entire field of science (paleoclimatology) and seriously tarnished the reputations of the inner cadre of researchers in it. Climategate I … [Read more...]

If Peer Review Were a Drug, It Wouldn’t Get on the Market

by E. Calvin Beisner

In a blog piece at MasterResource.org, meteorologist Chip Knappenberger presents and discusses the implications of communications from MIT climatologist Richard Lindzen documenting bias in and corruption of the scientific peer-review process against “climate skeptics,” focusing on the case of his recent submission to the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences that was refused there under suspicious circumstances but later accepted by the Asian Pacific Journal of Atmospheric … [Read more...]

In Praise of Scientific Piranhas: the Legacies of Climategate

by E. Calvin Beisner

It's been two months now since Climategate broke. The disclosure of thousands of emails, computer programs, and other documents from the Climatic Research Unit of the University of East Anglia in the UK revealed scandalous scientific misconduct of monumental proportions--enough that it has crippled the credibility of an entire field of science (paleoclimatology) and seriously tarnished the reputations of the inner cadre of researchers in that field. I've read hundreds of articles on Climategate … [Read more...]
