The Climate-Change Derangement Syndrome: Undermining Science and Demonizing Skeptics

by Vijay Jayaraj

Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) is fairly popular. Even people in far eastern countries like India and Australia know about it. But little do we hear about Climate-Change Derangement Syndrome (CCDS) and another new syndrome emerging from it. CCDS is a behavioral pattern in which a section of our society responds irrationally to any trend in global temperatures that contradicts its narrative of a dangerous rise in global temperatures, without regard to the actual data. For example, … [Read more...]

Living by the Flood Waters: Life, Death, and Hope in the Midst of Chaos

by Vijay Jayaraj

This month, the Indian state of Kerala received massive rainfall. The subsequent floods displaced 1.3 million people. The experience has left many, including me, shaken yet hopeful. India’s southernmost state, Kerala is famous for its monsoon rains. Rain-bearing clouds from the Indian and Arabian oceans ravage the land every year. They make it a lush, green, tropical paradise. The entire state is separated from its neighboring state by the famous Western Ghats mountain range. These … [Read more...]

YouTube Is Fighting against Scientific Inquiry and the Expansion of Human Knowledge

by William Balgord and E. Calvin Beisner

This article was co-authored by E. Calvin Beisner. Curiously, the mainstream media seem to have ignored the story, but it’s an important one. Buzzfeed reported August 7 that “YouTube Is Fighting Back Against Climate Misinformation.” As of July 9, “YouTube is now adding fact checks to videos that question climate change … as a part of its ongoing effort to combat the rampant misinformation and conspiratorial fodder on its platform.” But neither YouTube nor Wikipedia, the source … [Read more...]

The Dawn of Climate Realism: Coal Surges Amid Climate Rhetoric

by Vijay Jayaraj

Many countries have been at the crisscross of warfare between anti-coal establishments and the traditional coal industry. Despite the elite-empowered and politically motivated worldwide campaign to phase out coal, demand for coal is on the rise! Coal has been “enemy No. 1” for the climate establishment. In fact, it would seem that the entire global warming movement is hinged upon the singular aim to eliminate coal from use. Catastrophic Anthropogenic Global Warming (CAGW) is a notion that … [Read more...]

Does Russia Deploy American Green Groups as Pawns?

by Vijay Jayaraj

The Trump administration, despite being accused of facilitating Russian collusion in the 2016 Presidential election, is, with the rest of America, actually a victim of Russian sabotage. American environmental groups’ threats to halt energy projects and defence operations, long a problem, have grown recently, thanks in part to Russian support. They are now more dangerous to energy security than ever. While the media remain obsessed with “Russia collusion” in the 2016 elections, they ignore … [Read more...]

Church and Climate Change — Love Thy Neighbor, With Truth

by Vijay Jayaraj

The Christian church worldwide has always sought to improve people's welfare. It has been the forerunner for justice and freedom. That is understandable, because Jesus demands that we love our neighbors as ourselves (Mark 12:31). How then, in light of the best scientific and historical knowledge, ought the church to respond to climate change? How do we love our neighbors when it comes to global warming? Loving our neighbors doesn't stop with sending roses or being polite to them. We … [Read more...]

Climate Obsession: Blinding Us to Real Environmental Problems

by Vijay Jayaraj

Are there bigger environmental concerns than Climate Change? Certainly. But we don’t hear that from our daily news anchors and bulletins. Why are we obsessed with climate change? Not long ago, our interests were limited only to weather. But in recent decades, climate change has dominated our news columns. There is not a day without news on the coming climate doomsday. The reason for this is simple—climate change has been sold by the mainstream media as the most disastrous environmental … [Read more...]

Are There Benefits to Climate Change?

by Ken Milam

News reports and editorials about human-caused climate change are a daily feature of modern life, as politicians, environmental activists and industry leaders grapple over how to mitigate or avert the expected global catastrophe to ensue. Gregory R. Wrightstone takes a different view. “We see that many of the predicted climate calamities … are, in fact, not happening, and that conditions are improving in many cases,” he said. Wrightstone is an AAPG Member and author of the book, … [Read more...]

The changing climate of science

by Anthony J. Sadar

Have mathematical models replaced good old-fashioned scientific testing? An understanding of the big picture in a field of study helps to frame and give essential perspective to that field. Take the field of natural science for instance. A big-picture look at the overall operation of the natural science profession has traditionally been seen in the “scientific method,” which consists of observation, hypothesis and testing. Rigorous testing of a hypothesis eventually leads to a … [Read more...]

The Curbelo Carbon Tax as Wealth Redistribution

by Benjamin Zycher

No matter how you look at it, the Florida Republican’s new proposal is bad policy. Environmental policy as a tool of wealth redistribution is nothing new. The latest example is a proposal for a greenhouse-gas (GHG) tax just introduced by Representative Carlos Curbelo (R., Fla.). Curbelo’s tax would start at $24 per metric ton of GHG emissions, growing 2 percent per year above inflation and an additional $2 per ton every two years if emission-reduction goals are not met. Those goals rise … [Read more...]
