That's how most of the media are treating a new study, anyway. Even the Wall Street Journal ran a news piece titled "Study Finds No Pause in Global Warming." The source? "Possible artifacts of data bias in the recent global surface warming hiatus," published this week in Science, by long-time global warming alarmist Tom Karl et al. Abstract: Much study has been devoted to the possible causes of an apparent decrease in the upward trend of global surface temperatures since 1998, a phenomenon … [Read more...]
New Observational Evidence Supports Old “Infrared Iris” Theory
About seven years ago I read a fascinating paper by Roy Spencer et al. that argued that clouds respond to Earth's surface temperatures in ways that moderate them--cooling the surface in response to warming, warming it in response to cooling. It led me to an earlier paper by Richard Lindzen that argued that, at least in a major region above the Pacific, clouds respond to surface temperature changes in a way analogous to how the human eye's iris responds to light. In response to dimmer light, the … [Read more...]
We Pray for the Honorable Scientists Who Are Being Attacked for Speaking Truth
Heavenly Father, Your Law clearly commands us not to bear false witness against our neighbors. Right now eight courageous people weigh heavily on my mind—eight climate scholars targeted by a politically motivated and baseless attack on their personal integrity because they are so intrepid as to stand against a powerful tide driven by enormous political and financial interests. Father, please vindicate Dr. Robert C. Balling of Arizona State University, Dr. John Christy of the University of … [Read more...]
How the Media Will Spin the Next IPCC Report – Why the Spin Is Wrong
It is extremely likely that the most oft-cited statement from the “Summary for Policymakers” (SPM) of the forthcoming Fifth Assessment Report (AR5) of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) will be: It is extremely likely that human influence on climate caused more than half of the increase in global average surface temperature from 1951–2010. Mainstream media and global warming enthusiasts will latch onto that. With little or no awareness of either its textual or its historical … [Read more...]
