Burke, VA—The Cornwall Alliance for the Stewardship of Creation and The Texas Public Policy Foundation today announced a special reprint of Fossil Fuels: The Moral Case. The paper, authored by TPPF’s Distinguished Senior Fellow and Director of the Armstrong Center for Energy and the Environment Kathleen Hartnett White and originally released in June 2014, makes the case that fossil fuels have vastly improved living conditions across the world and released entire populations from abject poverty.
“TPPF is honored to join the Cornwall Alliance in this special reprint edition of my paper Fossil Fuels: The Moral Case,” said White. “We thank the Cornwall Alliance for its help in disseminating this important information. Access to the concentrated and versatile energy in fossil fuels has been a necessary condition for the colossal improvements in human well-being over the last century. Current climate policies based on replacing fossil fuels with renewable energy will hurt poor and middle-income families. Solar panels and wind mills will not provide the affordable electricity so urgently needed by billions of our fellow human beings in developing countries who still live without electricity.”
“Access to abundant, affordable, reliable energy is indispensable to lifting and keeping whole societies out of poverty and the high rates of disease, suffering, and premature death that invariably accompany it,” said E. Calvin Beisner, Ph.D., founder of the Cornwall Alliance for the Stewardship of Creation. “For most of the world’s 7 billion people today, fossil fuels stand head and shoulders above all competitors as the best source of that energy. It is morally and intellectually shocking, therefore, that some people denigrate fossil fuel use as evil. It is instead one of the greatest boons to mankind. Kathleen Hartnett White makes this case brilliantly, passionately, and clearly, and the Cornwall Alliance is honored and delighted to have a hand in trumpeting her message. Read it, share it with friends, and send copies to state and federal legislators, executives, and regulators, letting them know you support that message.”
The Honorable Kathleen Hartnett White is a distinguished senior fellow-in-residence and the director of the Armstrong Center for Energy & the Environment. Former Chairman for the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (2001-2007).
The Cornwall Alliance is a Christian non-profit promoting Biblical earth stewardship, and economic development for the world’s poor.
