The Independent reported March 3 that “a growing number of children are being affected by eco-anxiety—concern about ecological disasters.”
Question: Do you suppose there is any connection between what school children are being taught in the classroom and may see on broadcast “news” all over the world—if they take time to pay attention—and their states of mind?
Neither a typical school teacher, nor the average news reporter, is sufficiently grounded in the arcane discipline of climate science to make satisfactory independent judgments regarding what they may think they know about climate models that purport to forecast the future. The empirical data from the actual record has not validated the various array of models to date, so that any conclusions derived from those models remain suspect.
There is rational dissent that will not go away, even in the face of public character assassination and financial pain long visited upon many highly educated scientists who believe they have ample reason not to accept out of hand the apocalyptic conclusions of the climate establishment that began to seize control of the discipline three decades earlier.
If the models had been correct, the obvious question is, “Why then have not the dire consequences of a CO2-driven temperature rise not come true as predicted?” They have not, since instances of extreme weather are not unprecedented. The Modern Warm Period that has prevailed since the conclusion of the Little Ice Age, circa 1850, is yet no warmer and likely somewhat cooler than the Medieval Warm Period, which preceded the LIA many eight to nine centuries earlier. There is nothing new to see here, folks. Only the negative fallout on the psyches of teenagers like the little Swedish girl, Greta Thunberg.
