War on Fossil Fuels Means US Oil Sales to China — Child, Slave Labor

by Paul Driessen

As a presidential candidate, Joe Biden promised to end fossil fuel use in America.Biden said, there’ll be "no more drilling," "no more pipelines."Within hours of taking office, President Biden ended construction on the Keystone XL pipeline and began imposing leasing and drilling moratoriums, slow-walking permits, pressuring banks not to fund oil companies, and taking other steps to turn his promises into policies. However, with a little boost from President Vladimir Putin’s war on Ukraine, … [Read more...]

Real Threats to Biodiversity and Humanity

by Paul Driessen

References to climate change almost guarantee funding, even for research topics of little interest beyond academia and eco-activists. Polls reveal that most people worry most about energy and food prices, crime, living standards, Putin’s war on Ukraine, and increasing efforts to control their lives. A recent study by Rutgers University scientists sought to determine how much diversity is required among bee species to sustain wild plant populations. They concluded that ecosystems rely … [Read more...]

Cancel Mom’s Grocery Bag Misinformation

by Paul Driessen

I don’t deliberately avoid organic foods or markets, but I don’t seek them out either. Claims that organic food tastes better or is more nutritious are not supported by evidence and certainly don’t justify the far higher prices. Mostly, I’m put off by assertions that organic food is pesticide-free, safer, and more planet-friendly. Those assertions are simply false advertising; deliberate misinformation.Mom’s Organic Market shopping bags provide an excellent example. They’re emblazoned with six … [Read more...]

Saving America From Planet-Threatening Fossil Fuels by Sacrificing our Economy, Environment, Living Standards, Freedoms and Security

by Paul Driessen

Presidential candidate Joe Biden repeatedly promised to end fossil fuels in America. There’ll be “no more drilling, including offshore,” he said. “No ability for the oil industry to drill. No more pipelines.”  Shortly after reaching the White House, President Biden ended Keystone XL pipeline construction and began working with congressional Democrats, regulators, and eco-activists to impose leasing and drilling moratoriums, slow-walk permits, pressure financial institutions … [Read more...]

Assessing Virginia’s Hidden Wind and Solar Costs

by Paul Driessen

Among Governor Glenn Youngkin’s first actions was Executive Order #9 initiating Virginia’s withdrawal from the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, the Northeastern U.S. “carbon market” that sets and enforces emission limits for coal and gas power plants. RGGI also lets utilities buy “carbon credits” when emissions exceed those limits and pass costs on to families, businesses, hospitals, and schools. Special interests will contest withdrawal, but the EO sets the proper tone for … [Read more...]

The Real Climate And Health Crisis

by Paul Driessen

Climate policies promoted and imposed by President Biden and Democrats are based on junk science, headline-grabbing scare stories, and computer models that create far-fetched “scenarios” asserting that fossil fuel use and emissions will cause Earth to warm by 4 degrees C (7 F)over the next 80 years, and cause Arctic warming that will bring colder winters. Those dire predictions are used to justify more taxpayer-funded “research,” like a recent Columbia University “mortality cost of … [Read more...]

Lethal Carbon-Imperialism in Glasgow and DC

by Paul Driessen

Climate alarmists intend to keep poor nations energy-deprived, impoverished, jobless, dyingDays before the twenty-sixth Conference of Parties in Glasgow, Scotland. Pope Francis and President Biden met in Rome to discuss “efforts grounded in respect for fundamental human dignity,” including “tackling the climate crisis and caring for the poor.” They should have read Climate Change: The Facts 2017 before they met, especially my chapter critiquing His Holiness’s energy and climate “ethics.” A key … [Read more...]

Send the Paris Climate Treaty to the Senate

by Paul Driessen

Article II, Section 2 of the US Constitution is simple and direct: “The President ... shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two-thirds of the Senators present concur.” It served America well for 225 years. Then, in 2015, the UN’s “international community” of climate activists gathered in Paris to hammer out language requiring that developed nations slash their fossil fuel use, tighten greenhouse gas emission targets every five years, … [Read more...]

The Green New Deal means monumental disruption

by Paul Driessen and David Wojick

Not just for energy, but for every aspect of our lives, living standards, culture, and freedomsBy Paul Driessen and David WojickKamala Harris co-sponsored the Senate resolution to support the Green New Deal. Now Joe Biden has endorsed the plan. Naturally, people want to know what the GND will cost – usually meaning in state and federal government spending. But that is the wrong question. The real question is, how much do Green New Dealers expect to get out of it, at what total cost? Mr. Biden … [Read more...]

Food Security in a Post-Covid World

by Paul Driessen

European Conservatives and Reformists Party hosts another ‘Europe Debates’ webinarUS-EU trade talks are already stalled over agriculture issues. And yet the European Union’s new “Farm to Fork” strategy doesn’t just double down on the EU’s contentious agricultural regulations. It promises to use access to European markets to compel the United States and other countries to adopt EU-style organic farming, precautionary and other regulations if they want to remain trading partners with Europe. … [Read more...]
