Less than a month ago respected climatologist Dr. Judith Curry took the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change to task for intentionally manufacturing a “consensus” on global warming—a no-no in scientific practice.
Last week the world learned that the British Broadcasting Company (BBC) manufactured its own consensus on global warming—and used it to justify biased coverage of climate science.
In 2006, the BBC convened a panel of “scientific experts” to advise it on climate change. But the panel, whose members a determined blogger recently discovered after much conflict, included only four scientists, only two of whom (including Climategate figure Mike Hulme, advocate of post-normal science) were climate scientists. The remaining 24 were politicians or activists for environmental advocacy groups.
Based on their advice, the BBC decided it would no longer be neutral on climate change. Instead, it would exclude skeptics’ views.
This is how misinformation spreads. BBC’s intentional bias on global warming has helped change public opinion and, so, public policy.
Cursory, superficial reading of news outlets will not inform you of the real debate over global warming. You must dig deeper.
That is why the work of the Cornwall Alliance is so important. We dig through the muck of media misinformation and present a biblically based, scientifically and economically informed view of environmental issues. Please tell your friends about us. Support us financially. And pray for us.
