Why Climate Doomsday Won’t Happen This Summer

by Vijay Jayaraj

As we head into another summer, the clarion call for climate action from environmentalists is expected to grow louder. But are we really at the tipping point of a global climate catastrophe? Not all environmentalists are worried about the climate doomsday. In fact, even amongst the climate scientists, there is no clear consensus regarding the possibility of a climate state that would cause global catastrophe. Nevertheless, the mainstream media have been pushing the climate agenda on full … [Read more...]

What Is Man, that We Are Mindful of Him?

by E. Calvin Beisner

The Associated Press's report today on the continuing volcano eruption on Kilauea, the main island of Hawaii, which has destroyed hundreds of homes, included the sentence, “Those who live or vacation in the area were mourning the loss of popular tide-pools where kids enjoyed swimming," which got me thinking: If, as they do, natural processes routinely replace one habitat with another, why is it, as so many environmentalists think, wrong for humans to do so? Is it because humans aren’t … [Read more...]

Flaky forecasts of certain climate disaster

by Anthony J. Sadar

Weather observing 160 miles above the Arctic Circle leaves a lasting impression. In the beginning of my atmospheric science career, I observed weather for a season at an isolated military outpost on Alaska’s west coast. Although snow fell on July 5, the temperature in the summer of 1977 later reached 70 degrees Fahrenheit on two days. More typically, the Arctic air was quite cool and the sky cloudy. Rain and mist were frequent. Since then, my decades of work in meteorology have been within … [Read more...]

No More Secret Science, Needs No More Secret Economics

by Darren Brady Nelson

Controversial Administrator at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Scott Pruitt, said in a press release on April 24th that: “The era of secret science at [the] EPA is coming to an end.” This is in the context of him signing a proposed rule to strengthen the science used in regulations issued by EPA. This is also in the context of Executive Order 13777 (issued in March 2017) which provides for regulatory reform of “those regulations that [do not] meet the standard of reproducibility.” The … [Read more...]

Ten religious reasons against climate change

by Mark Powell

Many in politics, as well as in the media, are unaware that there is a growing number of Christians who are opposed to the ‘catastrophism’ associated with global warming. They have formed what is called the Cornwall Alliance and produced an excellent statement outlining their position entitled: A Renewed Call to Truth, Prudence, and Protection of the Poor: An Evangelical Examination of the Theology, Science and Economics of Global Warming. Based upon the statement as well as the work by Wayne … [Read more...]

How Do I Protect Myself from Insect-borne Diseases?

by E. Calvin Beisner

Having recently moved from a suburban area nestled in a major metropolitan region to a semi-rural area amid forests, farms, a nature preserve, and even a swamp, I’ve become a little more conscious of the need to take proper precautions against insect-borne diseases. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reports, “Disease cases from mosquito, tick, and flea bites tripled in the US from 2004 to 2016. Nine new germs spread by mosquitoes and ticks have been discovered or introduced since … [Read more...]

What Happens to Professors who Dare Question Climate Orthodoxy?

by E. Calvin Beisner

Well, sometimes they're told to shut up. And if they don't, sometimes they get fired. And after that, sometimes they get told to shut up about being fired. That's the gist of what's happened to Dr. Peter Ridd, ex-professor of marine science at James Cook University in Australia. Ridd had the temerity to point out, in a chapter for the book Climate Change: The Facts 2017, that studies on which the claim that rising atmospheric CO2 concentration---blamed also for catastrophic anthropogenic global … [Read more...]

‘Evil’ GE Foods and ‘Eco-Friendly’ Organics

by Paul Driessen and Vijay Jayaraj

This article was co-authored by Vijay Jayaraj. Across the globe, genetically engineered (GE) crops face opposition from environmental and organic food activists, who claim the crops harm the environment and endanger human health. How factual are their claims? The evidence strongly supports GE over organic crops. Not long ago, Vijay visited the Sprouts organic food store in San Jose, California. To his surprise, organic vegetables that had shorter shelf-life and higher risk of bacterial … [Read more...]

Summer Rains and Record Crop Output: No Room for Climate Lies

by Vijay Jayaraj

It’s raining. It’s been raining nonstop for five hours. Heavily. It’s done that for four straight days. Farmers all over southern India, where I live, are rejoicing. And the rainy season has not even begun! According to climate-change alarmists, none of this should be happening. They have predicted increasing drought for India from man-made global warming. They’ve also predicted declining harvests because of it. That has created panic. Farmers in southern India were already nervous … [Read more...]

Take Secret Science Out of the EPA: An Open Letter in Support of Strengthening Transparency in Regulatory Science

by E. Calvin Beisner

Click here to sign the Open Letter. The federal Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) proposed rule “Strengthening Transparency in Regulatory Science,” banning the agency’s use of “secret science” in formulating regulations, should be adopted. It is badly needed to assure American taxpayers that the EPA is truly acting in their best interests. Objections are groundless. Strengthening Transparency in Regulatory Science (STRS) provides that “When promulgating significant regulatory … [Read more...]
