The False Promise of Electric Cars

by Cornwall Alliance

The following is a guest article by Andrew Stuttaford."The more the state ‘plans,’” wrote Hayek, “the more difficult planning becomes for the individual.” This may resonate with the driver of an electric vehicle (EV) who has pulled up at a charging station in the middle of nowhere, only to find it broken. In January last year, Carlos Tavares, the CEO of Stellantis, the world’s fifth-largest carmaker (it was formed by the merger of Fiat Chrysler and Peugeot), described electrification as “a … [Read more...]

Feds Push Ignorance Defense for Whale Killing by Offshore Wind Development

by David Wojick

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management and the NOAA Fisheries agency have both put out what amount to “arguments from ignorance” claiming that offshore wind development has nothing to do with the recent whale deaths. “We know nothing about it so it must not be happening” is a ridiculous defense to the charge of offshore wind development causing the death of a lot of whales. But this is exactly what the Feds are now saying.Image: Creative Commons under UnsplashNOAA Fisheries is a scientific agency … [Read more...]

Green Billionaires Bankroll War on Gas Stoves

by David Legates

Image: Creative Commons under UnsplashWhat is the “Climate Imperative Foundation”? Have you ever heard of it? As Robert Bryce writes on Substack, “The Climate Imperative Foundation is the newest and richest anti-hydrocarbon, anti-natural gas group you’ve never heard of.” I recently discussed the issue related to gas stoves. In my investigation, I found the attack on using natural gas for cooking comes largely from the Climate Imperative Foundation. In its first year of existence, Climate … [Read more...]

Why the Sudden Attack on Gas Stoves?

by David Legates

No doubt you have heard the discussion that gas stoves are evil … because they lead to childhood asthma. I am not talking about “gasoline” stoves—and I do not recommend you cook with gasoline—but gas stoves that run on natural gas. You might have one of these “anti-children” appliances in your kitchen. I recently moved from a home that had a gas stove to one where I now cook with electricity … not because I have children who are likely to develop asthma but because … well, the new house does not … [Read more...]

FERC’s Role in the Offshore Wind Stampede

by David Wojick

I am looking at a fat study titled “The Benefit and Urgency of Planned Offshore Transmission: Reducing the Costs of and Barriers to Achieving U.S. Clean Energy Goals." The term FERC occurs a whopping 92 times. Not surprisingly the 103-page report is mistitled. It is actually about the onshore transmission of offshore wind power, not offshore transmission. The urgency is that the present power system cannot handle all that offshore juice coming ashore. FERC is in the crosshairs because they are … [Read more...]

Wind Farms Wrong for Right Whales

by Gregory Wrightstone

Wind energy is presented by climate alarmists as a planet saver – a friend of Earth’s flora and fauna. Nothing could be further from the truth, which is becoming more apparent with increasing deaths among whales along the United States’ East Coast.Image: Creative Commons under UnsplashThough dismissed by official agencies charged with wildlife protection, evidence is pointing to offshore wind projects as threats to whales, especially the endangered North Atlantic right whale.Wind turbines are … [Read more...]

Gore Climate Rants Return

by Larry Bell

Hyperventilating again last week at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, former Vice President Al Gore claimed that climate conditions are even direr than previously imagined, with manmade greenhouse gases responsible for the worst climate disasters the world has seen in recent years.Photograph: Fabrice Coffrini/AFP/Getty ImagesNothing short of a nuclear holocaust, purveyor of planetary peril Gore said the current output of greenhouse gases is sending heat into the atmosphere that is … [Read more...]

Are You Really Against Fossil Fuels? Read this Before You Answer

by Vijay Jayaraj

It is easy for anyone to say that they are against fossil fuels. Opposition to coal, oil, and natural gas is fashionable and will prompt heads to nod and even hands to applaud in most places.Image: Creative Commons under UnsplashBut are people aware of the extent to which their lives are dependent on fossil fuels? Do they know that more than 90 percent of things used in their everyday lives are derived from fossil fuels? From your toothbrush to your car tire, a majority of the things you use … [Read more...]

‘Greens’ Ignore India’s Lethal Cold Spells

by Vijay Jayaraj

It is not uncommon to witness freezing temperatures in winter in Europe and North America. However dangerous the cold can be in higher latitudes, such weather is even more so where people and infrastructure are ill-prepared for it.Image: Creative Commons under UnsplashOne such place is India, well known for its hot, tropical weather. Every year, some Indians find themselves in the midst of record-breaking cold even as the mainstream media and others obsessively speak of catastrophic global … [Read more...]

California’s Deluge: Unprecedented? No. Missed Opportunity? Yes.

by William Balgord

According to Dictionary.com, the term “atmospheric river” originated with scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology back in the 1990s. More recently, the term gained currency with climate-change advocates as a way of boosting their dodgy narrative. Lately, the mainstream media picked it up and applied it lavishly in accounts of the recent heavy rains in California.Image: Creative Commons under UnsplashThe rain-making phenomenon, common around the globe, occurs at various … [Read more...]
