If Peer Review Were a Drug, It Wouldn’t Get on the Market

by E. Calvin Beisner

In a blog piece at MasterResource.org, meteorologist Chip Knappenberger presents and discusses the implications of communications from MIT climatologist Richard Lindzen documenting bias in and corruption of the scientific peer-review process against “climate skeptics,” focusing on the case of his recent submission to the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences that was refused there under suspicious circumstances but later accepted by the Asian Pacific Journal of Atmospheric … [Read more...]

New Summary for Policymakers: Nature, Not Human Activity, Rules the Climate

by Nongovernmental International Panel on Climate Change

A panel of climate change experts calling itself the Nongovernmental International Panel on Climate Change, headed by S. Fred Singer, this week released a report that competes head-on with the Summary for Policymakers of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. The group's name highlights the fact that, contrary to common perceptions that it is an objective body of scientists, the IPCC comprises not only scientists but also government bureaucrats and policy shapers, and its Summary for … [Read more...]

Contaminated Data

by Ross McKitrick Ph.D.

[Editor's Note: We don't usually publish such a long excerpt as this, but this is a very important, and very substantive, article. It adds to the many reasons to question seriously the reliability and scientific objectivity of the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and the magnitude of recent warming.--ECB] Below is the famous graph of "global average surface temperature," or "global temperature" for short. The data come from thermometers around the world, but between the thermometer … [Read more...]

Dishonest Political Tampering with the Science on Global Warming

by Christopher Monckton of Brenchley

Originally Published at Heartland.org As a contributor to the IPCC’s 2007 report, I share the Nobel Peace Prize with Al Gore. Yet I and many of my peers in the British House of Lords - through our hereditary element the most independent-minded of lawmakers - profoundly disagree on fundamental scientific grounds with both the IPCC and my co-laureate’s alarmist movie An Inconvenient Truth, which won this year’s Oscar for Best Sci-Fi Comedy Horror. Two detailed investigations by Committees of the … [Read more...]

The IPCC’s Cardinal Error in CO2 Warming Calculation

by E. Calvin Beisner

Read the full report here (PDF). Lord Christopher Monckton, Viscount Brenchley, former advisor to the Thatcher and Major governments in the UK and a well-known critic of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, has written a paper especially for the Cornwall Alliance revealing a major mathematical error in the work of the IPCC. Because of the error, the IPCC exaggerates the warming effect of increased atmospheric carbon dioxide by 2 to 7 times. The IPCC's cardinal error is in its … [Read more...]

NAE, or Cizik, off course

by Karla Dial

Originally Published in Focus on the Family Citizen, July, 2007 Richard Cizik is no stranger to controversy. As vice president of government affairs for the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE), Cizik has generated plenty of headlines — and cries of protest from fellow believers — for his increasingly caustic comments on what he sees as human-caused global warming. But Cizik staked out new territory on the topic in early April, when he spoke at a daylong global-warming conference … [Read more...]

Scientific Orthodoxies, Politicized Science, and Catastrophic Global Warming: Challenges to Evangelicals Navigating Rough Waters in Science and Policy

by E. Calvin Beisner

Click here to download the full paper. The year 2006 has seen a major division among evangelicals over a strange, multifaceted issue: whether human action is causing potentially catastrophic global warming and what, if anything, should be done about it. That division quite possibly had enormous political consequences in the mid-term elections just completed, contributing to both diminished voter turnout among evangelicals and a decline in their support for Republican candidates from 75 percent … [Read more...]

Appeal Letter to the National Association of Evangelicals on the Issue of Global Warming

by Cornwall Alliance

Leading evangelicals ask NAE to refrain from taking a position on climate change issue We have appreciated the bold stance that the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) has taken on controversial issues like embracing a culture of life, protecting traditional marriage and family, promoting abstinence as AIDS prevention, and many others. We respectfully request, however, that the NAE not adopt any official position on the issue of global climate change. Global warming is not a consensus … [Read more...]

Evangelical Environmental Declaration Seeks Consensus on Controversial Views

by E. Calvin Beisner

The following article was originally published, in edited form, as “Are God’s Resources Finite? A group of Christian leaders claim they are, but does the claim square with the evidence?” WORLD Magazine, vol. 8, no. 27 (November 27, 1993), 10-13. In the next two months, leaders of various Christian denominations and parachurch ministries will be asked by the Evangelical Environmental Network to endorse an Evangelical Declaration on the Care of Creation finalized at a meeting near Chicago in late … [Read more...]
