The 30+ scholars—scientists, economists, theologians, and more, interviewed for Cornwall Alliance’s Greener on the Other Side: Climate Alarmism—Facts, Not Fear video series—address in this latest video the charge that they’re in the pocket of “Big Oil” or the fossil fuel industry in general.
A few quotes:
- “The idea that I’m getting paid off by somebody else is amusing. My principal source of income is the Social Security Administration.”—Thomas P. Sheahen, Ph.D., Physics, Director, Institute for Theological Encounter with Science and Technology; Vice President, Science and Environmental Policy Project; President/CEO, Western Technology, Inc.
- “All the money I’ve received from big oil, big coal? Not a penny. Not one penny, not ever. Not from a big oil company, not from an affiliate of an oil company, not from the Koch brothers, not from an affiliate of the Koch brothers ….”—William “Matt” Briggs, Ph.D., Mathematical Statistics, Statistical Consultant; former Meteorologist, NWS
- “One hundred percent of my research has always been provided by the United States government, we get a little bit from state government, we’ve gotten none from private industry.”—Roy W. Spencer, Ph.D., Meteorology, Principal Research Scientist, Earth System Science Center, University of Alabama; U.S. Science Team Leader, Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer on NASA’s Aqua Satellite; former Senior Scientist for Climate Studies at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center, where he was co-recipient of NASA’s Exceptional Scientific Achievement Medal for global temperature monitoring work with satellites; Cornwall Alliance Senior Fellow
And there are more. Watch. It’s kinda fun, really!
Of course, the anti-logicians on the global warming alarmist side, like Al Gore and Barack Obama, will continue to claim CAGW critics are all bought and paid for by fossil fuel corporations, but the facts just don’t support that.
