  1. I would appreciate your comments on the recent IPCC report on what is deemed to be a potentially catastrophic state of the global climate.

We’re preparing a series of articles on that, but an initial response is at https://cornwallalliance.org/2021/08/new-climate-report-got-you-shakin-in-your-boots/. The gist: there’s lots of very good science in the actual scientific assessment. The Summary for Policymakers, however, badly exaggerates that science, and the public relations pieces issued by the IPCC about it exaggerate it even more, and the media reports generally exaggerate it still further. Because we recognize that the computer climate models on which the IPCC relies for all forecasts of future global warming significantly overstate (by anything from 2 to 4 times) the amount of warming that comes from adding CO2 to the atmosphere, and because we think the emissions pathway for the future is much more likely among the lower scenarios the IPCC uses than among the higher, we think future anthropogenic warming will be smaller than the IPCC says, and definitely not an existential threat, or even more harmful than helpful.
