Global warming alarmists the world over have been hailing 2015 as the warmest year on record. Reality check: The satellite data are in, and at 0.27 deg C above the 1981-2010 average) it’s only the third warmest, behind 1998 (#1, 0.48 deg C above the 1981-2010 average) and 2010 (#2, 0.34 deg C above 1981-2010 average).

Kudos to Cornwall Alliance Senior Fellow Dr. Roy Spencer, who collects the satellite data with U. of Alabama colleague Dr. John Christy, for providing this monthly update.

As our friend Dr. Richard Lindzen frequently points out, the entire straight-line increase in global average temperature (according to the satellite data) of about 0.7 deg C from 1979 through 2015 is simply insignificant so far as any impact on human or other life on earth is concerned. Far greater changes occur daily, and still greater changes seasonally, in any given locale.

Also, even extrapolating that straight-line increase over a hundred-year period (during which cooling is likely to intervene, though) would yield only 0.19 deg per decade warming trend, only two-thirds of the 0.3 deg per decade central simulation by the IPCC’s models.
