I just received word from Joe Bast at the Heartland Institute that Dr. Robert M. Carter, a palaeontologist, stratigrapher, marine geologist and environmental scientist with more than 30 years professional experience and one of the world’s leading experts on climate change, died today, several days after suffering a heart attack.

I met Bob first through correspondence, finding him always ready and patient to educate me, a non-scientist, in the ins and outs of climate science. Over the past few years, largely through Heartland Institute’s International Conferences on Climate Change, we got better acquainted, indeed became friends, and I benefited even more from his wisdom. I was particularly grateful for his generous gift of time when I interviewed him for our video documentary Where the Grass Is Greener: Biblical Stewardship vs. Climate Alarmism, for which his comments were clear, focused, and eminently helpful to the intended lay audience. He will be sorely missed as a scholar, a gentleman, a responsible citizen, and a keen scientist. His passing is a great loss.
