We Pray for Those who Suffer

by Gary Habermas, PhD

God of all grace and Provider of all of our needs, we come humbly to you today on behalf of all your children around the world who live constantly in the grip of poverty, those who hunger for the physical nourishment of life.  We pray that we may be more aware of their suffering so as to do more than our share in alleviating their discomfort.  Let us by your Holy Spirit be so convicted to help that we may hurt constantly for those who are suffering.  Lead us to help meet their needs as you … [Read more...]

We Pray God’s Blessing on the Nations

by Rev. Al Pino

We pray according to Psalm 72:1-4 that our Gospel witness would bring God’s promised blessing to the nations. Psalm 72:1-4 [1] Give the king your justice, O God, and your righteousness to the royal son! [2] May he judge your people with righteousness, and your poor with justice! [3] Let the mountains bear prosperity for the people, and the hills, in righteousness! [4] May he defend the cause of the poor of the people, give deliverance to the children of the needy, and crush the … [Read more...]

Give me a Sensitivity to the Poor in my City, Nation, and World

by Rusty Wright

Heavenly Father, we know that the poor of our world are close to your heart.  You told us, “Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done.” Please give me sensitivity to the poor in my city, nation and world, so I will have your heart for them, and your mind.  Give me wisdom regarding how to channel the resources that you entrust me to steward.  Teach me when and how to use time, abilities, funds, influence, so that you may be glorified. Poverty … [Read more...]

We Pray that You Would Defend the Poor

by Rev. Jason Farley

Lord you are concerned for the poor. You are their defender; their shield. And Lord we know that those that set themselves against the poor set themselves against you. Especially when they do it for gain. And so Father, we pray for the poor that are being injured through the narcissistic environmental policies of the 1st world. Lord, the rich are keeping the common wealth of humanity from the poor through political and economic machinations and the poor are being ground down. See this evil, … [Read more...]

We Pray that You will Make us Good Stewards

by Dr. Thomas White

Dear Lord, You are an amazing God—steadfast in your love, abundant in your mercy, and wise in your actions. You are a wonderful creator God who has provided a magnificent creation with abundant resources for us to enjoy. We recognize our sinfulness and thank you for your mercy and grace extended to us through Jesus on the cross. Your word tells us in James 1:5 that those who ask for wisdom in faith will receive it. Today, we pray for wisdom and for understanding in how to best steward the … [Read more...]

Make us a Thankful People We Pray

Our Father in heaven: we delight in calling You Father, for the work of Your beloved Son has granted us such a privilege. We thank You for Your goodness to us. For You have indeed cared for us as a father. You have provided all of our daily needs. We are an undeserving people, yet Your grace has been poured out to us. We Pray for Freedom

by Kurt Van Gorden

Great God Almighty, Please forgive me of my sins, for they stand multiplied before You.  Nothing that I do escapes Your watchful eye, Oh Lord, so please let me stand humbly as a redeemed sinner before Your holiness and glory.  Let me honor You with my life and please cover my dishonor through Christ’s blood.  Hear my prayer and my heart’s cry, Oh Lord.  Fill the gaps of my mind where I cannot speak clearly and hear the intent of my heart as I approach You. Oh God, you have changed the course … [Read more...]

We Pray for the Unborn

by Thomas D. Hennigan

Dear Father You are beautiful beyond description and the heavens declare Your glory.  Though marred by our sin, I am still in awe of earth’s amazing beauty and fascinating creatures.  I love to walk with You in the silence of the forest and see finite visible manifestations of Your invisible and infinite attributes.  I see Your Life, Your Provisional, Your Powerful, and Your Relational “thumbprints” all around me. Thank You for making Yourself so well-known.  I long for the Day when You will … [Read more...]

We Pray for Literal and Spiritual Water

by Rev. Roy Miller

O Lord, our creator and sustainer, we come to you this day mindful of how richly your Word uses the word “water.” It speaks of water in the literal sense as when, for instance, David, pursued by Saul, yearned for a taste of water from the well of his hometown of Bethlehem. But it also uses the physical need and desire for water to picture for us our need for You (“as the deer pants for the water brooks”), your provision for your people (“He leads me beside the still waters”), and even of the … [Read more...]

We Pray for the Honorable Scientists Who Are Being Attacked for Speaking Truth

by E. Calvin Beisner

Heavenly Father, Your Law clearly commands us not to bear false witness against our neighbors. Right now eight courageous people weigh heavily on my mind—eight climate scholars targeted by a politically motivated and baseless attack on their personal integrity because they are so intrepid as to stand against a powerful tide driven by enormous political and financial interests. Father, please vindicate Dr. Robert C. Balling of Arizona State University, Dr. John Christy of the University of … [Read more...]
